Transportation Changes
Parents/Guardians, if there is a change in your child's transportation, please send a note to alert your child's teacher of the change. Please call the office for any transportation changes that may happen after your child has been sent to school
Transportation changes may not be made through email.
Bring Your Own Technology
All fourth grade students will receive their own chrome book to use in school this year. If you would like your child to bring his/her own technology to school in addition to the chrome book he/she will receive, you must sign a waiver which can be accessed on the Selwyn website. Students will only be able to use their technology at teacher designated times; it will not be permitted for personal use (texting, social media, unapproved games, etc.). Teachers will not be able to assist students with their technology and are not liable for any damage or loss that may incur. When the class and teacher are not present in the classroom, the door will be locked to assure your child's device is safe.
Homework
Students will be responsible for writing their homework down in their agenda for each block. The homework is posted on the white board each day at the end of class AND on the weebly (only to be used as a back-up option). On any given day, agenda buddies or spot checks will be used to make sure students are writing down their assignments. Students may be awarded credit or deducted debit for depending on whether or not their agenda is filled out properly during these checks.
Behavior Management
We will be using LiveSchool this year to track each student's behavior. Students, and parents will all be able to see how many points have been earned or deducted through the LiveStream app. Students may earn credits for positive behaviors shown throughout the school day. A student may earn credits by showing acts of kindness, following directions, helping others, and being an outstanding citizen. Students may earn debits for not following directions, being disruptive, not turning in assignments and showing inappropriate behaviors in specials, recess, and lunchroom.
In some classes, students will also earn table points throughout the week. This encourages teamwork and citizenship by showing that individuals can work together towards a common goal. Tables that earn the most points at the end of each week will earn an additional amount ($5.00) in their "classroom account".
The class also keeps a Discipline Notebook that follows the class to specials each day. Each special area teacher will mark any areas of concern they have that day. If behavior becomes excessive, the parent will be notified.
